In case anybody is interested. Dave Prentice is offering an SIV course May 15,16,17.
I did an SIV in NZ in February. I wish I had done it much earlier in my flying career. It really helps you dial into your wing and you learn the parameters of your wing as well as how to recognize an impending asymmetric or stall. It also provides you with techniques to get out of trouble quickly (b-line stall, spirals, even full stalls in case of cravats). and besides all that, it's a heck of a lot of fun. You can also ask David to talk you through non-essential (but fun) maneuvers such as wingovers and spins
Three of us have already booked our flights. $221 roundtrip to fort lauderdale on spirit airlines includes all taxes, fees and one piece of baggage. (you might be able to do better, but you most likely have to pay for baggage. So, when you compare fares, factor in $30.00 for baggage)
Course itself is $450. There might be an option of just doing two of the days for $300, but talk to David personally about that.
(two days are sufficient to get you through the basics)
Alek did the course last year, see video (with instructions!) from that clinic at: http://www.vimeo.com/2228118
Three spots are still open as of time of writing.
Come join us!
