A great book for anyone interested in XC. I haven't read the whole thing yet but I can already say it's a a very welcome departure from Pagen's scientific, convoluted and outdated style. Many coloured high resolution pictures of clouds (nascent and decaying), great diagrams and schematics on how to read the sky, the ground and plan accordingly. I like it.

Re: Thermal Flying by Burkhard Martens
I just got this book last week. It is OUTSTANDING. I too have enjoyed Dennis' books, which have been and still are my flying bibles when it comes to the basics -- but I also agree that the advanced stuff gets a little too deep in the technical "hows and whys" than I can easily digest. Thermal Flying is an easy read, which is expecially surprising given that it's translated from German. Most of the examples are in the Alps, but it's all easily transferable to other sites around the world. It's focus is for "advancing" pilots that are learning to thermal and fly cross country.
