Woodstock 2/8

Post by XCanytime »

It's gonna be breezy, and hopefully not too strong and too cross. And I hope the road will be open by Sunday morning. Cross your fingers. Anybody interested in the slightest?

Looks like it's going to be a nice Pulpit day. No road issues, and it'll be overcast everywhere.

Gonna be a bit stong at the 'burg and HR tomorrow; Woodstock and Smithburg are the bets. I'll likely be flying my sailplane out of Front Royal. I'll wave...

I'm hoping to come out... looks like it will be a nice "winter" WS day, but not gonna be early.

President-on-Vacation may be gone but now our guy wants to meet there with foreign leaders :-/
Maybe if we could get a few heads of state out to tandem off the rock, they could get the TFR suspended for us.

If someone is willing to make a call to Secret Service 24 hours or more in advance, volunteer to be the (non-flying) site monitor, get SS to dust off the waiver Joe Gregor negotiated right after "big P-40" started after 9/11, give SS your cell phone number, etc. then those pilots whose names are listed in the waiver could fly during a TFR... - Hugh

As of 7:30 am this morning the road is still closed. Probable not gonna get anyone to come out on a Sunday to open it either. Looking like a muddy hike

Drkrivos is always right, when are you guys gonna figure that out? :D I'm not going, something came up and needs to be done, but Glen and Gregory are. Their ETA is noon. I hope you'll have enough pilots to have a good time, sorry I'm a letdown this time.

If I believe forecasts Woodstock would be better.

But it looks that most people are heading to Pulpit so I'll go there
and hope forecasts are wrong.

have no idea what would be entailed other than showing up, but if someone would take care of the details and make it a no-brainer for me, it may be that i could fill that slot now and again. . .

Hello All,

Well, we got lost in the Valley, and stopped by North Mountain Winery. Then, wound-up at WS LZ expecting to see Ya'll.....
We heard that there would be flyers at WS, so we pulled around and called Shawn only to find out that he was at the Pulpit....
Then all of a sudden, here comes the calvary. A 3 car caravan headed for the LZ , then soon followed by Bacil, whom we passed
at the Toms Brook rt 11 intersection...

Hope you all had a blast flying, the conditions looked prime.....

'Til then, Mike

Gary, Randy, Tony, and Carlos had late day flights at Woodstock in nice air. Bacil and I had equipment problems (see his post on luff line catch). My VG line got sucked up into my downtube: Swoosh wheels are mounted on the bar and VG line goes through the plastic hub, requiring untying the stopper knot to poke he line through, then retying - obviously I got distracted sometime between the first and last step. Good thing I didn't try a field repair - took me a good hour in my living room with beer, two coathangers and taking care not to lose little pins and cotter wires. - Hugh
