Woodstock 1/11
Looking like a worthwhile hike up the back (if the road is closed). Gary Smith and I are planning on it, providing it's not too icy from the precip tomorrow. Any other hikers/polar bears interested?

I'd fly sunday if the road is open. I'm not hiking up the back. Will High Rock be open?

I am interested.
What is the road status?
What time are people planning on showing up?

Looks like mainly a rain event down that way. Road should be open, but I'm going up the back way just in case. Probably be getting there around 10:30A. Bacil

Re: Woodstock 1/11
I may not make it afterall. I would not make it until 12 and I may miss the window after hiking.
Should be good flying for the brave souls who make the climb!

Sunday 1/11
Woodstock road is closed. Gusts to 30 predicted for Hagerstown with early AM forecast. We're gonna wait until 11am forecast update and then make a decision re- High Rock/Smithsburg. Got my fingers crossed.

Shawn and I arrived at 11A at the backside entrance. We walked up to check conditions, and it was soarable for sure. Overcast and 10 to 15 straight in. By the time we were ready to sherpa up the equipment, an older guy from Toms Brook showed up and unlocked the gate for us. Shawn deferred to let me fly (thanks Shawn), so up went my truck to unload the equipment. By the time I was ready to go a little after 1P the conditions had shut down completely. Extendo in the smooth buoyant air. Some pics follow:

Decent day at the burg. Karen, Daniel and I. Daniel did five flights and Karen and I each took two flights on her glider. We both are still getting over colds. Ellis showed up and pulled out her paraglider. It would get strong and North cross at times. So Ellis did a little kiting lower on the field. But then it seemed to smooth out again and I contemplated pulling out the bag-wing. But my back was sore and it was getting late. So we packed up and paid a visit to the landowner and gave her a couple of Pulpit mugs and and one of the JIm Palmieri books. We had a nice long visit with her and her kids and dogs. Her husband was milking the cows. Didn't make it the Rock. But it should've been good there.
