Pretty spectacular conditions for December. We had a fairly small crowd on hand but I towed all three to good lift in a blue sky. Joe and Ray soared as high as 5K and landed after 2 hours because they had to leave. Joe said he found 700 fpm right off of tow. Cliff (a fairly inexperienced pilot) got three hours.I am still grounded from HG due to shoulder surgery. Lauren was stuck at home. She has managed to be very unlucky and get another nasty cold just a week after getting rid of the last one. Needless to say, she was less than a happy camper, especially after hearing what she had missed.
There was a mid level cloud bank approaching from the north and I thought we'd get shaded in but it seemed to stop just as it came overhead with blue sky to the south and mostly cloudy to the north. After a while I noticed that everyone was working lift right along the edge of this and that I could see tons of birds extremely high. Cliff reported that later in the day, the thermals seemed to die but the entire area along this boundary was lifting off and he was able to boat around everywhere in light lift. It seemed to work almost like a mountain glass off. I suppose it was some kind of a convergence. This is not terribly unusual when we get the sea breezes coming in from both coasts but I have never seen it associated with a system moving in form the north.
Anyway, wish you were here!!!

Re: Great Day in FL
I'm jealous--although FL is not that far from here the temps have been frigidly cold in TN, kinda surprised the arctic air has seeped into FL.
