The sailplane club at Front Royal is gearing up for an epic ridge soaring day - visiting pilots trailering their gliders from elsewhere, maybe operate two tow planes, opening early. I have heard "1000 kilometers" mentioned as a goal. I have the duty, will be hooking up gliders all day. - Hugh

Maybe I should start saving up for one of those sailplanes instead of a new wing...

That's the deal with the club - we have four club gliders (two are two-seaters, mostly for instruction and giving rides) - this will keep you busy for the first few years. You can also join a syndicate in a high-performance (50:1) glider for say $10k... I think the hang-gliders may be operating tomorrow also. If you can get a launchable cycle, then base wind up to 20 is doable in a higher-performance HG. It's kinda like having a bag of golf clubs - you pull out the one that will work in a particular situation... - Hugh
