High Rock Fly-In and Fund Raiser this Saturday!

Post by Richard Hays »

Sorry for the late posting. I emailed some of you guys and thought it might just end up here by some over-achieving clubmember. But alas...no such luck this time. Slackers! Anyway....

The Fly-In is this Saturday. Early reports have it blowing ( maybe ) easterly or Light and Variable, but....PLEASE....come out and support High Rock and Emma Jane and family regardless. I'll be firing up the grills around 4-5pm. Possibly a little later if the flying ends up at Bills Hill saturday. Either way it will be kept hot and covered for your arrival afterwards.

The weather looks really decent for camping out. Warm day, cool autumn night. Perfect! We'll have the fire pit going, the grills blazing and wifey Leigh will be doing what she does best with the grub. There will be a wine tasking contest ( please bring a good or bad bottle for the contest )....a pumkin toss and a glider at dealer cost raffle. All proceeds will go to Emma and family.

Hey....winter is approaching fast. You'll be kicking yourself in the ribs for not taking advantage of such great weather for getting outside, camping and with any luck....flying too. Come on out, bring your fireside noise-makers and have some fun!

On the Menu: Hamburgers, hot dogs, fried chicken, sausages, specialty salad, veggie combo, baked potatoes, macaroni and cheese, chili, and desserts.

Beverages: Bottled beer, red and white wine, sodas and bottled water.

Cost: 10.00 per head. 5.00 for the kiddies 12 and under. 5.00 for the glider raffle. Sign in, get your hand stamped, buy a raffle ticket and chow down. FYI: in the event it does become flyable at HR, please pay your landing fees at the house.

See everybody there! Remember...this is YOUR chance to support YOUR site. Show Emma and family that we still care about them, the site and the sport in general. High Rock is a special place. Its easy to forget and take it for granted.

Cheers!

Sounds like fun. I'll go to Bill's before hand to fly. Hopefully the hay bales are gone now...
See you all out there.

I'm dragging Sallie out to Ridgely early for another paraglider scooter tow lesson with Jim before his tandems start. If by some miracle he signed her off, would hot-foot it to Bill's and maybe throw her off. See you at the party in any case - Hugh

Wine Tasting and "Competition" at HR

Post by Danny Brotto »

So let's try this for the second year in a row...

Hay's asked me to handle the wine tasting event again this year. So bring a bottle of wine (or two) to enter into the wine tasting for Saturday evening festivities. Not sure what the criteria will be but we'll ad hoc something based on the number and types of entries.

Win fame and fortune, well maybe just fame, for your winning entry.

Danny Brotto

PS: I say we do a tequila tasting next year!

I plan to stop by at some point on Saturday evening : gotta support Emma-Jane and Randy
for the many years that they have provided the High Rock LZ, enabling us crazy pilots to
enjoy such a wonderful site!

PS: Many thanks to Richard and Leigh for all their organization and work, putting together
the Fly-In. Truly appreciated!
