Sunday 10/5 Flying

Post by eggzkitz »

All three models are showing more of a light NW flow today...

could be Dickey's or Pulpit... Anyone game? Leaving Warrenton at noon if anyone wants to fly!

Sort of iffy whichever way you look at it. General flow is NW.
We are going to the Pulpit: Laszlo and Tomas and I.
General arrival time around 1:00 pm.

Ellis & friends are now (12:45 pm) diverting to Woodstock because of a steady 45 degree cross from the North at the Pulpit.

Ben and I flew Micky's both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday was light with some thermals, for extendos to the LZ. Sunday was booming and very weird. Lift to 1000 over, then big winds threatening blow back. Rough spots and switchy LZ. Ben and I both top landed several times then down to the LZ later in the eveing.

We ended up not flying at Woodstock... was blowing a bit over the back... and very very light. Ugh.

Micky's?

You should've trusted Ellis and gone to the Pulpit.

Actually, we were all on our way to the Pulpit when Ellis, who got there first, called and said it was too cross and that we should divert to Woodstock.

You should trust that we trusted Ellis.

:-(
I should have staid at the Pulpit.
Someone else wanted Woodstock after hearing me describe the wind. 45 degrees cross, sometimes 90, sometimes cycles coming in straight. cycles about 3 minutes long.
