The OZ report recently included a url for a video taken of a talk that Gerolf from Moyes gave regarding sprogs and glider design. I found it very interesting to hear his thoughts on stability and glider design. He also gave quite surprising answers to questions at the end of his talk (parts 5 and 6 of the video) regarding shrinking sails and the effects of temperature and humidity on glider performance.
Parts of the talk may be too specific at times to measuring topless gliders for sprogs settings at competitions, but there is a lot of good info there. It is on the Tuesday, September 2nd oz report post. I have attached the description of it from the oz report below.
Anyone who has sprogs or curved tips will learn something from this and I highly recommend it.

Gerolf on Sprogs
During the British Nationals Competition in Laragne at the beginning of August Gerolf gave a very interesting and unbiased talk on sprog heights and the ramifications of too low and too high settings. The talk hit home with a lot of pilots and over the next few days I spent a fair bit of time measuring gliders – with some ‘interesting’ results.
Gerolf gave Markus Kinch permission to film him (so I’m told) and here are the films which Markus has split into 6 parts due to limit on youtube movie size. The sound is not brilliant but if you were not there and have never had the importance of sprog measurements explained to you I urge you to watch, learn and take action…….
