Oregon Ridge Tues & Wed. +update

Post by Richard Hays »

Went out there tuesday morning. Pretty strong conditions ( about 7-10mph on top ) switching from NNE to NE but definately ok. Had one student with strong H-1 skills. Slot looked "fun" but definately alot of air moving...both sides. Kayla ( student )launches..nice flight....gets to end of tree-line and then God took a poke at her. Thermal must have broken off. Lifted her right wing violently...actually shaking it...and flipped her into a fast left turn. She countered and pulled off an amazing 180 to keep from smacking the rope tow pole. After I cleaned my shorts, we stopped flying. :P Watched conditions for awhile and they began to increase in intensity. Ended up parking the glider in the "hanger" and came back hours later. Had lighted up considerably. Finished lesson. Kayla hit her spots each time x 5 in a row. Issued H-2 at end of day.

FYI: All fences are down at Oregon Ridge now. Wide open.

Went out again Wednesday. One flight. Conditions ( again ) increased. Now ENE to ESE. Too strong. 10+ Broke down and called it a day.
