How was Ridgley today???

I went to BlueSky. Not a great day but I did get some more landing setup practice. Wind was from the east at about 8-12, so launching from the truck was 90 cross. Got threw around a little, but nothing unmanageable. I setup the last landing approach and ran into a thermal which screwed my turn onto final up... a slipping turn to final got me near to the point where I wanted to land... still need to work on that. Highest tow was to about 800, 2 tows in the 650-700 range. 3 flights, 3 landings on my feet, about 15-20 minutes airtime for an almost 6 hour round trip drive. Worth it? of course it was. Maybe next time will be better.

A mostly cloudy day at Ridgely with light lift except for some who got close to some clouds with base at about 3400. Most solo pilots got some soaring and I got about 45 min after release. Solo pilots included Janni, Joe G, Carlos, Doug Rogers, Christian, John D, and maybe another one or two. Also, I got to do some PG kiting and scooter tows.

Ridgely was weird. Cloud base was really low yesterday and I got sucked. That wasn't pleasant and I had to pull many G's to get back out. Today looked spectacular but OD'd quickly. I had two flights of an hour each today and I think one of like 45 minutes yesterday. Good conditions, just not the type of XC stuff I was looking for. Still, crew guy Bob flew a triangle of like 20 miles when everybody else decided to stay at the airport.
