Hello everyone

Post by KirkLewis »

Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Kirk Lewis, and I've been taking lessons at Highland from Sonny. I've met quite a few of you, but seeing as I've been lurking on these boards for a while now I figured it was time to say hey :D I plan to be at Highland for the rest of the season, but once I get a lot of things out of the way (training, glider, rack, etc) I hope to join you guys at the mountain sites. I'm at flight# 13 of 20 of my lessons. If you are at highland during the season you're sure to see me, I'll be camping out there till I'm able to handle midday conditions solo.

Welcome, Kirk! We are always glad to see new pilots and to read your posts on personal firsts (solo, midday conditions, H2, first foot-launch training experiences, first mountain launch, first mountain/aerotow soaring flights) - the excitement of discovery is infectious and helps us remember the thrill of our own firsts. Plus, you guys are the market for our used gear! When the time comes, the club is your source for advice and formal Observation (Observers will help you fly the mountains safely). Let me officially invite you to our membership meeting tomorrow Friday 1 August at Matthew Graham and Karen Carra's home in Takoma Park. Pizza and beer!

Thanks a lot for the invite. I'm afraid I won't be able to make it though. I'll be sure to pencil in the next meeting though :D

Hi Kirk,
You picked an excellent place to camp out and fly! Mountain flying is dreamy as well, so when you have your sea legs and Adam and Sunny guide you to it... do come to the local sites! It's wonderful flying and a whole bunch of great people too. In the meantime Heather and I will see you at highland this summer and fall, great flying there and great instruction.

Regards,

John
