I find not being able to launch safely from the Pulpit because of lack of wire-crew hard to cope with. So I think it's time we start taking action on the gravel launch to make it HG-friendly and more PG-friendly. The biggest rocks need to be crushed and perhaps we could extend launch forward some? I know that Glen and Gregory can bring tools and expertise, but in all fairness they would have to be reimbursed on their costs. I would be thrilled if the Club spared no expenses this time to decrease dependence on the ramps and the need for wire-crew. Let's put this together and do some brain-storming. My first thought is to wait for a good and cooler W weekend so we can work, party, camp and fly. I can't be at the CHGPA meeting this Friday since it overlaps with the MHGA meeting.

Re: Pulpit Work Party
In Spring of 2005, the Pulpit board authorized $600 to $800 for further improvements to the paraglider launch. That money remains unspent. The biggest impediment is that no one has stepped forward to take the lead.
We had talked of bringing in more crusher run to raise the level of the slope. We could have a load brought in for not too much money. The hard (and more expensive) part is renting the machinery to transfer it from the set-up area to the slope. But, again, the hardest part is getting someone to lead. Matthew, at one point you had estimated how much more crusher run we could use. Do you remember the amount?

Re: Pulpit Work Party
What we need is a precipitous slope that extends from the ramps so effects on airflow are minimized. It should be wide and steep enough to safely launch a PG in nil winds. I don’t think $800 is going to get us that.
I will take the lead if
a) CHGPA is going to pay
b) HG pilots AND PG pilots show definitive interest in investing effort and time in this project
or c) we hire contractors and outsource the whole thing
