New forum, Pete Lehman, monikers, boredom, Arizona

Post by John Simon »

So...
it's winter and I haven't flown in a bit. Heather and I were just down in Groveland and had a nice hour or two with Paul and Lauren, but alas no flying as it was moderately blown out. Great to see the dynamic duo though, and just made me want to fly more.

I have a couple of thoughts this mid Feb due to boredom... plus I just got home from work and can't sleep right now.

There are quite a few monikers on this forum that I cannot attach a name or face to... is this intentional? I know I don't get out much but would like to be able to find out who "Maverick" is when they post about their 5th kill or Single Surface 200 miler. Any way to do this for the ignorant?

Pete? PETE!!! where are you? Are we going to do the Region 9 stuff this year? I am getting a new glider and intend to fly a long freakin' way at some point or another. I know we all take you for granted... but really I am going to buy you a (cheap) beer then next time I see you. I promise.

I am liking the new forum, thank you Mark for your hard work.

BTW, there are at least 5 or 7 Region 9 pilots signed up to fly the spiffy new comp in Arizona this April. Registration is still open as standby I believe... It should be mega fun and maybe some incredible flying too?!! Check it out at http://www.goflyxc.com and look for Santa Cruz Flats or something like that. The more the merrier already.

Lastly, the East Coast Championships (aka... the region 9 weeklong XC fly-in and comp) is likely going to be in early June and fun is a guaranteed or I'll buy you a (cheap) beer. Really, Sport class and open class are just as laid back and fun as can be and a week of XC will do wonders for your confidence and skills, if not in the sky then in the bar with the opposite sex (or same?). Please start thinking about it as we are blessed to have this event in our own backyard. It's a hoot!

Well, I hope to be blabbing about turning left next time but for now this is all I've got.

Later,
John
