What happened to the posts from the last 3 days? Posts from Feb 12 to present are missing.

Re: Where are the posts?
Yes, this is because of a server crash at our web provider. They had to move us
to new hardware, using a backup snapshot that was a couple of days old.
I *do* have my own backup, current as of early this AM. But the thought of wiping
and restoring the forum DB to recover three days of (very limited) posts isn't the
most appealing, I have to say. So unless there's a great outcry, I'd like to just let
this one ride... How do people feel about that?
On the plus side, the experience this time is worlds away from the last
crash that happened, with our previous provider. At least AxisHost actually
*does* have their own backups, and they *are* utilized to recover a customer's
site upon an unplanned move to a new server box.

No question, the return on effort is too small.markc wrote:the thought of wiping and restoring the forum DB to recover three days of (very limited) posts isn't the

With much appreciation for your service managing this resource,

As Murphy would have it, the period of the couple of days I chose to take a break from the forum encompassed the time of the crash. So I don't know if I missed anything relevant to me and/or my discussions between 2008/02/14 01:37:28 (Greenwich) and the point at which things started flowing again from the restoration.
I do, however, have a record of at least all of the correspondence in the "Tad's Barrel Release and maybe an alternative" topic beyond Matthew's post which has lately been marking its end and up to Jim's of 2008/02/14 01:37:28. I will repost it.
If anything subsequent appeared in that and/or the "Weak Links and Tow Bridles" and "speed link" threads I would greatly appreciate seeing a copy or reconstruction. Otherwise I will continue the conversation on the assumption that there wasn't anything.
JD,
I really appreciate your efforts and contributions to these discussions. I haven't dropped off or forgotten you. I've been a bit buried lately but I'll address all of your points - as well as those of others - as soon as I can get back up to speed.
