Daniel's 2 Feb

After some dithering over Dickey's or Daniel's, Tom Ceunen, Laszlo, Jim Kaplan, Juanito, Noah, Ellis and I convened at Daniel's. Fred had his Pinzgauer Austrian military vehicle to give us all rides to the top. Thanks, Fred! I launched first into straight-in at 8 and encountered light lift to the left of launch. I expected to fight a losing battle with gravity, but found a thermal halfway to the LZ. The others scrambled to join me once they saw me doing figure 8s, then full circles. Of course Tom and Juanito got higher, following the thermals behind the ridge and working the lee side, and they stayed up longer too! Probably 2 hours and 90 minutes respectively. I was happy with 40 minutes. What a gorgeous day! - Hugh
