Pulpit FlyIn : What if it's too strong for PGers?

Post by markc »

As you know, HGers can often fly in stronger winds at the Pulpit than
PGers can. And if the winds are NNW, then the HGers also have
High Rock as a flight option.

So there's a possibility that the flight activities for this weekend's Pulpit
Fly-In might be held at a location that won't work well for PG pilots.

Which would be a darn shame!

I brought this up with Bacil... And we're thinking that it would be possible
to score PG flights and HG flights together, even if the flying is done at
different sites. For example, PG at Woodstock and HG at Pulpit or High Rock.

What do people think of this idea?

Both sites have ridge and OTB potential, so it might be possible to
have a scoring formula that includes ridge-run and OTB legs, with
different point scales for each type of leg. Even though the two sites
have some big differences.

Of course, if we're *all* relocated to Woodstock because it's too strong
for either type of wing, then problem-solved! :)
