Pulpit Fly-In 2007 Just Around The Corner! : Sept 15

Post by markc »

Although Janni and Daniel are the ones who will be updating you with all the
details about this year's Fly-In, I handle the website stuff and figured you might
want to know that the Fly-In website has been reactivated.

You can find directions, maps, and camping and accomodation information at
the homepage for our McConnellsburg Hang Gliding and Paragliding Festival :

http://www.chgpa.org/HGFest/hgfest.html
The registration form isn't yet available, but when it is we'll give you a heads-up.

And while I'm on the topic of the Fly-In....

Remember that this is a fund-raising event which benefits the
McConnellsburg Rescue Squad. Your registration and purchase of
additional raffle tickets will directly benefit a worthy cause. And you'll
have fun at the same time, how often does that happen? :)

We will need volunteers for the many tasks that make our
Fly-In a success. Janni will be asking for your help in coming weeks,
so please think of ways to contribute. Many hands == light work!

Start thinking about teams for the XC Competition now! I think it
would be great if some of our top Region IX pilots (Ric, Tom, Bruce,
Dave P, Larry B, Pete L, John S, PK, and PG-Tom, ya listening?) could
captain a few teams, and share their wisdom with less experienced pilots.

Don't speed. Don't park along the access road to the Pulpit launch.
Don't drive vehicles into the LZ. Etc, etc, etc.

Please support your club, your sites, and the Rescue Squad by participating this year.
You'll have a blast!

Cheers,

MarkC

It's so great that Mountain House new management is interested! Maybe we could get her (?) a tandem ride... Certainly invite her up to the party. - Hugh

I'm assuming this is the same owner as a year ago? I gave them a pulpit specific information sheet, which they were copying. May have gotten sick of copying it. I'll send a copy to those involved, and we can dump a load of flyers on them.

Haven't seen the young girl there, the last few times we have been
there, but the older fellow is still there....
He was quite inquizative (?) about the DARK SIDE....
So , maybe we can get some PG flyers along with HG flyers
to hand out.....

Mark, I talked to my friend that works for our local paper" The Public Opinion". They are going to run it so spectators can check out the action!
Peace, Shawn.

The first thing your event coordinator would like to ask: Anybody out there with a glider for me? I'll fly anything that does not fold up under a hook-in weight of up to 250 lb. If you need to know, I'm 215 lb. I'm paying you rental $$$ for it, of course, and won't stiff you on any damages that I might inflict upon it. Got my word but don't you think you can make a few bucks with your old evil LaMouette Topless glider.
I'll post more info in a few days under a new thread and would already like to encourage everyone not to overload the thread with comments and ideas that have no real purpose or relevance. Don't take it the wrong way, every private email is more than welcome and I'll discuss with the CHGPA board which ideas and what suggestions are worth being made into a project. It's just that it's easy to miss out on the relevant information if you have to extract it from a huge body of enthusiastic yet pointless posts. That's why I'd like to keep that thread slim, to the point, newsletter style. There will be many jobs and I hope there will be as many volunteers.

I think you should ask Jeff Abramson. He's had his glider stored under my porch all season and has not flown it ONCE to my knowledge. Some !@#$ about ultimate frisbee. And work. And his wife doesn't fly. I'm thinking of evicting him for non-flying... I think it's an Ultrasport or maybe one model earlier. - Hugh

Silverwings (John) probably has a falcon he can rent to you for the weekend.
