I hadn't flown the mountains since my retirement trip almost 2 years ago, so yesterday looked like a good day to see how rusty I was. High Point in Cumberland looked like the place to be. There were only 3 of us - JR, Adam, and yours truly. We launched between 1:30 and 2. JR was behind me and didn't grouse once about how long I was taking to launch. I opted to fly my Supersport with my old harness. Other than the glider was trimmed too slow and still had a bit of a left turn in it, it was great. There was great lift and all 3 of us had fun flights. JR and Adam got to 6K, but I chose that moment to leave the thermal and go forward to the next ridge. Didn't quite make it and then had to turn tail and find more lift closer to High Point. Lift under some clouds was over 500 on the averager. No ridge lift, but lots of thermals bumping up against it. Ran out the landing (no beak!). Great day.
