A visit with Emma

Post by hepcat1989 »

I rode my cycle over to Emma's this morning to check in on her and see how she was doing. We had a nice visit together for over 3 hours. Man, the time just flew by.She is a very interesting lady and strong willed with a good heart. Her heart is heavy though and I held her hand while she cried her eyes out.She then began to tell me stories of her time with Harry and some of the predicaments they went through together. She had me laughing my ass off and then I had her laughing her ass off. It eased her pain if only for a little while. She has a super sense of humor!!!! She got a phone call while I was there and said to the other person that she is talking to one of her boys....She considers us family. She thinks highly of us pilots....She talked of Mark C and the gift of money that he had given to her in an envelope. Emma would use a 20 of it to give to her driver every time she went to visit Harry for gas and then she started crying.I was getting choked up a bit myself. Her heart is heavy, but we can help with that when we go and visit with her and make her laugh because she will definately make you laugh as well! Before I left I asked if there was any work we could help her out with. Off the top of her head she could only think of her drive down to her house. She needs a load of stone brought in with a dump truck and spread over her drive. I can check where I work and see what a load would cost. I work near Waynesboro so it wouldn't be far and we have many dump trucks. I'll talk to the owner. I guess the club could pay for it ? David Bodnor? Let me know....
When I left I rode up to launch. No wind and hazy as hell.......
Peace, Shawn.

I priced a dump truck load of stone for Emma's drive. 8-9 tons of 2 inch will run about $150 delivered. They can spread it with the truck up the drive as well. A work party will be needed to spread it evenly with straight rakes.
Let me know...
Shawn.

Sorry, That's $150 for cruch and run.8 tons. It will do a better job on her drive than 2inch. I just called them back to make sure. They can only deliver through the week, but we can have it delivered on a friday afternoon with 2 days notice. We'll see how much of her drive that will cover to start with. It may do it all, it may not
We'll see.
Peace, Shawn.

It looks like CHGPA will be footing this bill. So please give any contribution to Emma Jane or if you want a tax deduction, dontate it the the club and we will include it in with other donations to Emma Jane as noted in Hugh's ealier post.

That's right. The club has already made a contribution to Emma Jane. But I've already received three generous individual contributions. Send your contribution to CHGPA c/o David Bodner, 3208 5th St. N., Arlington, VA 22201. In the next week or so I'll collect what we have and send a check to Emma Jane. I'm keeping track of who sends what, and I'll pass that onto Emma Jane, too.
