TN report

Post by Flying Lobster »

Our prolonged drought has made for interesting flying--though the stationary low to the east has given us difficult NE winds which means cross/tailwind launches or waiting for the passing thermal in order to get airborn. You either snag a passing thermal or down you go.

I was fun flying my TurboFalcon 170 and climbed to 7,800 msl and went into automatic glide mode, stuffing the bar to head across the valley to sand mtn., and more than once reflexively reached for the vg that wasn't there. Arrgh! hahaha. Nothing there when I got to the sand plateau, but dorked around the valley a bit more before succumbing to valley suck. Got a ride up to launch by a local chicken farmer who was drinking a rum and coke. What fun!
