Tobacco Road XC Spectacular

Post by lplehmann »

At this point I have few details, but Nelson Lewis and his band of merry pranksters went nuts yesterday flying from Tobacco Row. Nelson made it into North Carolina for 135 miles, while Steve Kepler got 109 miles, and John Harper 103. I believe that is the first time in the Region's history that three pilots have accomplished hundred mile flights in one day.

That is correct. I had been unaware of Tom's awesome flight.

Two guys flew 107 miles together yesterday from Lookout. It was the one time I decided to go to Henson's instead, which usually is a little easier to go xc from. I flew down to the Tennessee river but couldn't get across, the thermals were just too mushy there, so I turned around and flew back to Henson's for a bangin springtime out and return of 45 miles.

I have long fantasized about Tom's flight and have a 125 mile dogleg task stored in my vario for that flight. What a prize--way to go Tom.

Now where's the flight report?
