Smithsburg/High Rock

Post by hepcat1989 »

I went to Smithsburg this morning to meet up with Kathy. When I got there Rich Hays was already there with some students. It was crossing from the left and not very strong. I got one flight in on the dream 185 as did Kathy on her pulse9m. I met George Tutor for the first time. He got multiple flights in and was looking solid.Kathy was looking solid as well.We all broke down and Kathy, George and I went up to The Rock. Kathy had never been there. It was coming in straight, but light. Many spectators were there enjoying the nice weather.George sugested that I take his Eagle for a flight.I had seen that he was flying it well at Smithsburg, so I took him up on it. It's pretty close to what my Pulse2 is. I launched with help from Kathy and George.( Thank You!) I stayed up for a half hour and just 400 over. I got 50ft. below launch and headed out.I landed with a no-stepper. The first time I barrowed another glider for a mountain flight!
I walked Kathy through the LZ.
I had fun!
It was a nice day!

Sorry I forgot to mention,. I talked to Randy for a while when I left the LZ. He said that Harry is doing pretty good considering.... Emma had just left to go visit him. Big paint ball battle in the woods and LZ area.
Sounded like a war zone! Everyone out enjoying the day!

Sorry for not being able to catch up with you guys......
Rhonda and I met some new friends and rhonda was
invited to fly with Cindy in her Dicathilon... plus she
flew on Friday with Adam... they asy she did well, and
we are hoping that the rest of the season goes as well...

I flew on Saturday and then again today... 25 and 15
minutes respectablely....few pilots got high and fewer
left the area....

It was very nice to see all our old friends and meeting
new ones... :D

Well, let's see how the rest of the week holds out, and
maybe we will get to fly again ....

'Til then, Mike 8)
