Smithsburg Saturday

Post by KathyC »

I'm hoping to be at Smithsburg Saturday to get some well-needed hill time in. Is anyone else going to be there? I've never gone and am not familiar with any specific site protocols. I'm assuming that since people were there just last weekend it should still be open. If anyone knows otherwise or has additional protocol info, please let me know. Thanks! :) --Kathy

Hi Kathy. Good on ya for going to the training hill. One site rule is to limit the number of vehicles at the entrance to the hill itself. Overflow parking in a couple of field entrances across the road or on the dirt road on the back side of the hill. - hugh

Kathy, I believe I met you at the parachute pack in Virginia last year?
The wind i'm seeing for tomorrow is NNW which can dump over a tree line behind some houses at the bottom of the hill . To the right side. It can make the LZ a little chunky. I am seeing sunday as a better direction up until around 4PM. It will be NW, WNW, WSW and then SW at 4PM. If you are game for sunday I can meet you there, or show you the way. There aren't many days left at Smithsburg until it is closed for the season.(Crops).I have a dream 185 I have done alot of work on. I would like to try messing around with that wing!
Give me a holler.
Shawn .

Hi Shawn. I'm good for anytime this weekend! Yahoo! So if you say Sunday morning is better, Sunday it will be then. The directions in the site guide seem pretty clear so I should be able to find it. I can be there as early as 7ish... Just let me know when you want to link up.

Rhonda and I are headed back to Ridgley on Saturday morning,
and will keep checking on the winds for sunday. If there are
switching westerly like predicted ? we might be tempted to leave
early Sunday morning to get to S-burg by noonish.....

Hope all is going well with ya'll.

'Til then, Mike 8)
