Pulpit Saturday???

Post by Matthew »

Pulpit Saturday? Bacil, what say you?

Sunset is 4:40. Land and break down by 4:30 and make it to the BVH Bash by 6:30...

Matthew,
With a 15 to 20 degree temp drop from Friday to Saturday, the Pulpit looks way strong. Woodstock's a better bet.

HR Saturday???

Post by Danny Brotto »

Dave

Looks to be cranking a bit much even for HR on Saturday... but Sunday is looking schweet for HR and a TFR is unlikely.

So chill and do all those home chores on Saturday, party hearty @ Richard's to wish BVH bon voyage, crash on Hay's floor, and fly with BVH and the gang at HR on Sunday... perfect timing!

Danny Brotto

PS: Brian didn’t fly OR last weekend reserving a day in hopes of flying in the mountain this weekend. I think he’ll get his wish at HR on Sunday... Boo Wah!

I get the hint and will bring glider and toothbrush to Richard's place. I'll have to leave by 4, though for a 6 pm commitment.

Crankin???

Post by Matthew »

It ain't gonna be crankin' on Saturday. Sure it will ramp up Sat afternoon at the Pulpit. But it's gonna be blowing 10-15. Even the bay forecast is for only NW at 10.

Saturday...

Dr. Jack's for 1:00 pm on Saturday looks to have some omph behind it...

The BS ratio shows any thermals will likely be torn apart....

Wind looks to wind down later in the day so HR high be okay later on. Next front looks to be coming in pretty quickly (passing Monday time frame) so Sunday is now in question at HR. May work at McConnelsburg with SW going west.

Just spoke with Eddie and it is open (11/17/2006)! He asked that we try not to damage the barley on the very top of the hill so be gentle if launching from there.

I still see wind sped peaking at 10am and backing off in the afternoon to 10-15 for Hagerstown.

Alright, looks like I have to make the call here :D

Pulpit looks way too strong, so who's in for some serious cliff launches at High Rock? It's the closest to Richard's house anyway! Elevator ride in the morning and a sled ride on booze in the evening. Who's with me?

OK, Sallie has relinquished the option I gave her to go on a birdwatching trip tomorrow while I did soccer-dad duty, so I am at liberty to fly wherever, then proceed to the party.

Is the party pot-luck, BYOB, or do we just show up and consume Hays' substance like a horde of locusts?

For those who are flying HR I can lead from PA16 which becomes MD140, then cut cross country from Glyndon to Oregon Ridge park and on to Richard party. I suggest either stopping at the excellent deli in Glyndon, or at one of the shopping centers on York road on the way to the turnoff to the party. Caravan leaves around 4?

BTW, why come everytime I try to hit an apostrophe, this blasted listserve editor tries to pop me into search mode? And my arrow keys dont work either.

So who's willing to go to HR? I reckon we need a solid crowd to wire-crew. Unless dramatic changes occur, I and Glen can be set up there at 10.

So lessee.... NWS surface 'casts are :

HRock : 5-10NW
Pulpit: 10-20W (just 30 miles away, go figure!)
Wstock: 5-10W

ADDS 3k is calling 20-30NW at 2pm for
the entire region.

Place your bets!!! :)

The satellite shows what looks like lots-o-wave (though who
knows how high).

The early AM Dulles balloon reported 30kts at 2800 feet.

The NWS surf cast for High Rock and Wstock have been
increased to NW@10-15 . The Pulpit cast now has a 30mph
gust factor.

I'm leaning toward Woodstock, but would like to hear some
other opinions!
