Pulpit or High Rock Sat?

Post by Kelvin Pierce »

Seems to be a tough decision on which would be the best call for tomorrow :?: It may be a tad bit strong at the Pulpit but on the other hand it may be too cross and/or kinda strong at the Rock.
I'm kind of leaning toward the Rock since Bacil has declared that the Pulpit will be good and his track record ain't been so good lately. Just kidding Bacil :D
What's everybody else think?

I'll be where my observer (Spark) wants us to be.

I won't be on-line in the a.m. but feel free to call.

High Rock...

Post by Danny Brotto »

Other than the fact that I'm rather partial to HR... I see an inreasing forecast tomorrow. Might build to be a bit strong at the 'burg. I'm opting for HR... check again in the am.

Trying to work up some enthusiam for more cold weather flying...
Lots of tries lately, without much of a payoff.

If I can muster the enthusiasm, I'll probably head where there's
a better chance of some sun.

What I see at ADDS thus far is WNW <15kts at 3000'. Should be
pretty good for either Pulpit or High Rock. But let's see what they say
after their next update cycle....

Goin' Skiing-- Should be a good day to FLY!!!

Post by Matthew »

We're off to the Poconos for four days of skiing. Hence, it will be a spectacular day to fly on Saturday. I'd go to the Rock if I were going. The Pulpit LZ is mud and knee high corn stocks. Combined with the recent snow and warming tomorrow, the LZ at the Pulpit will be a muddy disaster. The set-up area at HR should also be less snowy. Plus, winds are looking closer to 15 than 10. Unless you can get to the Pulpit super early for the Patented Early Morning Bacil Sled :), then High Rock is probably the better bet.

So.... Satellite shows clear signs of wave in PA and VA.
And the 1pm ADDS 3000' cast has been bumped up to NW20-30.

Don't suppose anyone knows if the road at Woodstock
is open?

If not..... heck I dunno.... Pulpit or High Rock, what's the
consensus?

Winds are forecasted to get stronger as the day progresses. The LZ at the
Pulpit is going to be a mess. Emma Jane could use a few dollars. Unless you
have an XC in mind I think High Rock is the call. If you decide on the pulpit
you might investigate that field across the road. The combination of mud and
corn stubble are going to make for some serious whacks in the Pulpit primary.

I think Dan and Matthew have a corn stubble allergy :)

It really wasn't a big deal to land at the Pulpit primary
last week. The stubble is 6 to 15 inches high. Yes, if you
don't have a good flare and really have to run it out
you could get tripped up. But honestly, it's not a forest
of punji sticks.

Haven't heard anything about the WStock road.... So I'm
going to head to High Rock, at least initially. Mobile's on.
