Oh please, Habeas Corpus is alive and well.

Unless you are a foreigner captured in Iraq or Afghanistan setting off IED's, blowing up civilians, or attacking coalition troops, you are very very very very very unlikely to be "arrested" or detained as an enemy combatant.

Homegrown terrorists and foreign terrorists in the US I suppose are also at risk, but most Americans don't seem too concerned about the rights of terrorists, except for Democrats and liberals, as the country "yawns" at the passage of this legislation.

As for this clip, why was there not a constitutional expert to give an opposing view on this program/clip of Olbermann's? Where's the educational balance on this issue of such great importance? I am sure there are constitutional experts who believe that this legislation is constitutional and necessary....but you won't hear them on Olbermann's biased show......just another example of liberal media bias.

Looking forward to a very red election day in two weeks.

It's agreed. Marco is a RED. We won't weep for you if you end up on the list of enemy combatants.

and this is your argument as to why no one should be concerned?

being asleep at the wheel?

i take it that you are one of the yawners?
then you'll blame others ffor not having yelled loud enough when everything crashes and burns?
"where were the regulators, the people who were charged with looking out for us?"
" i'm just in the business of going about my business and it's up to the government and the regulators to keep me in line."
those are the routine bullshit follow up lines if i recall correctly.

you're lucky you weren't around for the jim jones era.
there's a meaning behind the phrase "drank the kool-aid"
you just yawn and do what you're told,
buying into the mantra of 'just trust us',
'we have your best interests at heart.'
'we know what's best for you.'
you yawn...then you don't wake up.

and you try to convert others into being just as big a fool.

do you really believe/understand in why the constitution was put together as it was?

ya think those guys were just sitting around yawning, scratching their asses, bored?

just because you have your head up your ass (and believe your guys when they tell you that that smell is the smell of freedom)...

doesn't mean they did.

sorry (or thanks) dude, but your patronizing attitude was a blazing invitation for this.

Hey Matt,...no worries....I won't be on any US Government enemy combatants list, but thanks for your concern (or lack thereof). You should be more concerned that we are ALL on Al-Quaida's enemies list, and we NEED this legislation so as to root out and uncover their agents and dastardly plans.

I think you guys are overreacting to the importance and scope of this legislation. It does NOT change or supercede the Constitution at all. It has been passed by both the legislative and executive branches of government. If it survives a Judicial review, it would have passed all three branches.....hardly a Stalinist overthrow of the country. And like any law, if it is abused, misguided, or ineffectual, it can be repealed or amended. So it is good to be vigilant, but don't hit the panic button just yet.

I foresee much more good coming from this bill then bad, unless you are an AQ terrorist, or a liberal weenie ACLU type who is overly concerned about the rights of AQ terrorists.

The vast majority of red-blooded Americans support giving the military, the FBI, and the CIA the tools necessary to defeat our enemies, and hence the yawn (as Johnathon Hurley describes it in the clip).

Are any Dems (outside of Massachussetts) running on the platform of repealing this legislation??? Of course not !!! They are dumb, but they are not THAT STUPID !!!

So it is good to be wary and vigilant of any laws that potentially infringe on your rights, but let's first see what this legislation positively produces before we abort it prematurely and without evidence of abuse.

well...as remarked on by hugh and christy - if these guys had proven themselves to be a tad more trustworthy, more people would be inclined to trust them and your perspective might seem a bit more reasoned.

"dastardly plans" ?
is that language consistent with the cartoonish nature of your guys way of going about things?
good grief, of course it is!
