Bill's Adventure
Well, since inquiring minds want to know............
Here goes. Saturday was scorching, at least I felt so, and after an hour or so of helping clear brush @ the pulpit, I felt a bit sick ( nothing to do with the beer from the previous evening) and retreated to town for some grub, thinking that it would help. So, being there I couldn't forget the guys who were still working and I picked up afew things to make sandwiches and stuff.......upon my return, I still wasn't feeling the greatest and Brian said not to wear myself out if I intended to fly. So I sacked out for awhile in the truck until I heard car doors slamming. It was some of the guys heading for Bill's Hill.
I regained conciousness, and quickly followed. Once there I was a little taken by the speed at which the wind was coming up the hill. ( seemed like a lot to me) I then hocked up my airspeed probe to my vario and it was reading ~ 10-12 or so...... At this point I was slightly spooked ,but after watching Joe B. and Marc C. launch, I figured that it couldn't be all that bad. I believe that Brian, Tim, and Glen could see right through the exterior that I had put on, so Brian suggested that I hook in and Bring the glider over to the launch and "feel it out" . So i did. TBC
