You asked for it (cabin fever!)

Post by Lauren Tjaden »

Saturday: I have been flying lots but have been getting embarassed about posting since my name is on so many of the posts.
I finally have my Rotor and Litespeed paired up, hooray! I flew 5 days out of the past 7, had a couple of days this week when I soared for about an hour. Yesterday was just a sled for me. (I was playing with my L/D on my 5030, combined with VG settings to see how they changed, when I finally noticed I was WAY north of Groveland, and pretty damn low over no/bad landing zones. I raced for home, my heart pasted like bad onion dip on my tongue. As Kev said, I would not have made it in another glider, but hey, I own the Angel Bird. I arrived with tons of altitude, or enough, anyhow. It was a fun day.
Many of our WONDERFUL Northern buddies are here. John Simon, John Dullahan, who flew the Laminar and then snagged a ride on Kevin's comp glider, the Blue Vario, that Paul may purchase, as well as Marc Fink, who is staying with us, have flown in for the comp. And me -- I am getting comfortable enough with all my new stuff to actually start having fun again flying.
We are having our FAI comp this weekend, or trying to. There was a huge, drunken party last night, including naked fire jumping and many more wild antics. Many more. Your blood would chill into ice crystals if I told.
Since I am one of the meet organizers I came straight home to bed at about 8 PM. Paul says I have totally turned into a dud, which is kinda true.
It's f'ing raining and horrible this morning but tomorrow afternoon it may clear enough for us to run 2 tasks. Keep your toes crossed for us -- otherwise we have to do the whole thing again in 5 weeks.
