It's official, the letter from Jayne DePanfilis is in, the Skyline is the 2005 USGHA newsletter of the year!
Congratulations to Scott and our contributors and thanks for volunteering your time and creativity for the good of our community. You might remember that we won last year as well with Ralph Sickinger editing. It's so great to see national recognition of what we already know locally: Scott is doing a bang-up job, CHGPA has a fine newsletter. You can check out back issues at http://www.skyline.chgpa.org.
2 years, 2 different editors, same result: best newsletter in the nation.
Blue skies!

There are a lot of clubs and a lot of newsletters out there...
But the back-to-back awards for CHGPA's Skyline reflect a very
important feature of our publication: Quality Content!
And major kudos are due both Ralph and Scott for obtaining
that content (it's like getting blood from a stone!!) and for
presenting it in a professional and compelling way.
All the doom-and-gloom about the declining numbers of
pilots.... Well let me tell you, Skyline is how we make our
presence known, how we keep members informed, how
we keep students and new pilots interested in the sport,
and how we keep non-flying family members and land-owners
involved. Without it, things would be way worse.
And on that note.... There are MANY ways to contribute
to the health of HG and PG in our region. Opening a site.
Site maintenance. Interfacing with the FAA and other powers-
that-be. Serving on the board of directors. Attending Fly-Ins.
Attending PR events like the kite festival. Contributing articles
to Skyline. Writing articles for the general public.
Basically, anyone and everyone can do something to help
preserve and expand our sports. Not everyone can put in the time
that's required for a position like newsletter editor... But everyone
can do something from the above list.
HG and PG can only be as vibrant as the pilots who make up
our free-flight community.

Woohoo! Two years running? A reminder that CHGPA has a deep
reservoir of talent that can match - and beat - the supposed big-dog
clubs out west or wherever. The capitol (note spelling) of free
flight in the U.S. might just be...here! Congratulations, guys! - Hugh

Pretty friggin' great! Well done, guys and gals!
Mark has a good point about contributing to the sport in your own way. We all have tasks we are more comfortable performing, as well as times in our lives when we have more time (or less) to give a little back. If you don't like to type, pick up a weed whacker or find another way to help out. (Gawd, I love the view up on that soapbox..)
