taste o' wave

Post by XCanytime »

Brian,
???? Remember that the maximum sink rate that can be sustained in a hang glider is around 700' to 800'/minute in a spiral dive.? Sometimes wave goes up at 1000'/minute.? Do the math.? All that stress to the airframe, sail, and pilot and you are still going up at 200' - 300'/minute.? Read Joe Brauch's account of stuffing the bar and still going up.? Read Danny Brotto's account of flying at 140 knots or so and still going up at 200'/minute in wave.? The better option is to fly upwind if you can.? If not, fly off of the ends of the wave, or go downwind after topping out.? Hopefully there are landing options off of the ends or downwind.
