unhooked--unhitched

Post by Flying Lobster »

I was recently asked about Bill's accident by the seperate PG list, and here is the response I got back:

"Marc,

Thank you for your posting.

We had a similar incident (without injury) occur last weekend while towing at Don Pedro Lake. One of the guys tried to tow up in a paraglider without hooking in his leg straps.

Because the tow started from the ground, the glider flew up behind the pilot causing only embarrassment and a wet glider.

With ten people standing around at launch and with two people helping the guy hook in, I am amazed that nobody noticed the obvious omission.

Obviously, mental lapses like failing to hook in can happen. It seems like these mental lapses are most likely to happen when crowds are present or when a confusing situation exists.

Let's all try and remember to check each others gear and to be careful. "
Great Googly-moo!
