Geez, what kind of wife won't let you go flying when the weather is
good? I mean, it's not like it's the 20th anniversary or something
important like that... (says the guy who's about to get married)

You know what? You should do something nice for her; get her out of
the house, take a nice drive in the country, somewhere where she can
just relax and do nothing for a day, and just enjoy some sunshine and
nice weather... I know a perfect spot, out near Thurmont, Maryland...

Happy Anniversary!

I'd sure love to go to High Rock today and Bill's tomorrow but today is
my 16th
wedding anniversary and we have dinner reservations tomorrow. So, in hopes
that there will be a 17th anniversary and many more after that, I'll
have to
pass on flying this weekend. I wish the best for everyone who can make
it out.

I'm still soaring from the great time I had last weekend. The
mountains rock!

Romantic Anniversary Weekend

Post by Matthew »

Or Dave....

You could take your wife to the romantic Mercersburg Inn this weekend and have a candlelit dinner tonight and in-room massages tomorrow morning. If you happen to stop at High Rock on the way for some romatic views, it only adds to the joy of being in the countryside for your anniversary. Then after your massages you could go hiking in Buchanan State Forest on Saturday. Perhpas your wife would like to do some hiking on her own so she can reflect on your wonderful mariage???? And you could do something else. Then back ot the Mercersburg Inn for a late gourmet dinner and a bottle of champagne in the room.

You know, that sounds like a good idea. The only problem I see is that I'm not
sure I should give her an opportunity to 'reflect on our marriage' while I'm
flying and not there to defend myself. ;-)

It sounds nice though, maybe you should be a travel writer. :-)

Bills, then. I'll be there. Unfortunately, my implements are unavailable.

If anyone wants to use my gas-powered weed whacker (with "death blade" attachment) you're welcome to swing by Shepherdstown and get it. I won't be flying tomorrow (promised my daughter I'd take her camping, so we'll probably do "luxury camping" at Greenbriar State Park).

Scott did a great job of trimming at Bills - It is ok for HG launching and I doubt we will need to trim until Spring - everything is gonna die back soon.

So anyway, it was just Andy Harrah and me, flying paragliders. Winds were intially light (about 5mph), increasing to about 10mph by late afternoon. Conditions were ideal for H2/P2. Winds were pretty much straight in and the air was bouyant - no sink holes.

We flew and flew and flew. By about 3pm, it became marginally soarable, but I couldn't get high enough to top land until my fifth and sixth flights. Andy also made six flights, and got to soar the ridge on his last flight.

All in all, it was a great day, except for the fact that my camera seems to have died.

And ... I found Marcel's GPS that he misplaced two weeks ago - landed right next to it 8).

Bills Prediction

Post by Matthew »

Sparky and Andy,

Good to hear you had a good day at Bill's. But where was everyone else? Jeesh! I post that it's gonna be a Bill's Day. This should be clue number one to go to Bill's. Then I say that Karen and I can't make it there due to a prior commitment. This is a big clue that it will be good because we can't make it and we will be missing a good flying day. What more do you people want?????

I'm starting to sound like the old fart that I am. But when I was a two, and even a new three, I was at Bill's every chance I could get racking up as many flights as possible. And it went magic at Bills at the end of today!!!!

I don't know why I bother.

I would've been there but unfortunately I have to work to support my habit of flying. And then the children have some priority but they are losing ground as they get older but need rides here and there. Gene
