So you are coming south on 15 through Gettysburg? Take the route 550 exit "Thurmont" and go NW. Follow it some miles until you T-bone at the gate to Fort Richie, turn right. Go over the RR tracks and take the first left. Follow this for several miles and it will end at launch. - Hugh

Rusty,
Please be sure to hook up with the local pilots /CHGPA/MHGA members as soon as you arrive. You will need to go down to the LZ to meet Emma Jane, get her OK to fly, and sign her waiver.
She's a great lady and this is not a chore at all, but it is an important part of site protocol. Whoever takes you down can explain.
Site is H3 with CL experience or H2 with Observer. If you have never done a cliff launch, talk to the locals, and listen. If your only CL experience is at Lookout, talk to the locals, and listen (the difference in room to dive out it significant.) There should be several Observers there.

Good luck

Actually, coming from gettysburg it's probably faster to follow the Baltimore route: when 15 crosses 140 near emmitsburg, head n/w on it through emmitsburg then up the mountain (md 140 changes to pa16). At the top of the mountain you'll be in blue ridge summit. At the second intersection (I think) there will be a sign pointing to Ft. Ritchie. Follow this sign (turn left) and at the second possible right (again, I think) there is chocolate park liquors and you'll be at the corner of Ft Ritchie. Turn right and follow the road all the way past pen mar park and on to High Rock.

So are you a H2 yet? If so, congratulations!

Not h2, yet. I did just received my first wing, new f3 195. Very pretty, very happy with my purchase. As for HR, just wanted to know how to get there from my neck-o-woods, do some watching, crewing. It's gonna be a super easy trip for me, just as getting to Smithsburg. Hold the congrats, I'll let you know. Thanks, though.
