ahh - the news just gets lovelyer and lovelyer...

lest any missed it...
tom delay, (remember him? the DISGRACED republican house majority leader whose gerrymandering in texas brought about this whole republican majority - many who turned out to be criminals, scumbags and preeverts)? the voters in his own district in texas voted in a democrat to replace him! take THAT you a-hole !

jack abramoff has taken up residence at the prison in cumberland maryland.
don't forget to drop in and visit if you're out that way. (HA !)

the official portrait of former attorney general john ashcroft will be unveiled in the great hall of the department of justice today.
also residing there is the statue 'spirit of justice', having been re-unveiled of the 'modesty' drape that he'd had placed over her torso.
that's right. in perpituity, john asscrofts official portrait will be sharing space with the bare boobie ! ya-just-gotta-love-it.

on a positive note:

state of the union? yeah... blah, blah, blah...

james webb , as the democratic response? HE came across as a Rock (look out mcCain).

but here's the thing that made me Gag more than shrub...
why the g.d. national press corps are appropriately viewed as Despicable,
viewed as such by the right, by the left, by the repubs, by the dems (by actual People, that is).

tom (PASS ME A BARF BAG) brokaw, in his first words in commentary, commending james webb, mentioned that HE, mister "I'M TOM BROKAW, AND YOU'RE NOT" ( allah chevy chase in the long running schtik on 'saturday night live' referencing pukey broadcasters, or the self-important buffoon on the old 'mary tyler moore' show) - HE had recently been in viet nam With james webb, and, by the self-serving-way, HE was writing a book about that.

see... i WAS trying to look for someting positive ... a double negative is a positive, isn't it?

qualifying opening statements, intended neither as patronizing (as if!) nor to be lightly dismissed:
i appreciate anyone pointing me toward a source of information that they find informative, valid, reputable, or amusing (Especially amusing!) and i've never known this 'poster' to be anything but discriminating. and no (Emphatically no!), i'm not just looking to start an argument with, or 'get over on', Anyone who shows up here (i'd much appreciate being taken at my word on that one). this is just My idea of legitimate discussion.

that said, when i start reading something, and i keep tripping over 'qualifiers' (as underlined below), i pretty much pull up and stop reading because i start to wonder, what is it that i can actually 'carry away' from the piece? know what i'm saying?
i Will, however, take the time to read some of the other stuff on this site, to get a better sense of things.
this, of course, is written based on the assumption that anyone gives a shit :?

The Plame-gate Plot Thickens

By Robert Parry
January 24, 2007

In the opening statements at the trial of former White House aide I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, new evidence emerged pointing toward a criminal conspiracy at the highest levels of George W. Bush’s White House.

Libby’s defense attorney Theodore Wells described a conversation from 2003 between Vice President Dick Cheney and Libby, his chief of staff, at which a worried Libby complained that “they’re trying to set me up. They want me to be the sacrificial lamb.”

According to Wells/Libby’s defense attorney/ , Libby then told his boss, “I will not be sacrificed so Karl Rove can be protected,” referring to Bush’s top political strategist who now holds the post of deputy White House chief of staff.

Wells /Libby’s defense attorney/ also cited meeting notes written by Cheney suggesting that Libby had been tasked with the job of countering accusations from former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, who had publicly charged that Bush “twisted” intelligence about Iraq’s nuclear program to help deceive the American people into supporting the invasion of Iraq.

Qualifiers are usually more indicative of accurate reporting I've found. Being too sure usually means being wrong in the end.

I prefer the tag Plame Game to Plame Gate.

agreed, actually.
as i don't necessarily see a conflict between your statement and mine.
i'd offer, that it depends on what one is looking for at any given time.
beyond saying that, i'll go ahead and put my hair splitter back in its drawer.

again, agreed.
perhaps a taste morsel?
plame game dame played lame, not maimed, but placed blame - shame.

washpost article: titled "ex-aide says cheney led rebuttal effort": "during her testimony, martin, a harvard law school graduate married to fcc chairman kevin martin and a close pal of bush counselor dan bartlett, seemed uncomfortable, shifting in her chair, squinting at her interrogators, stealing quick glances at the jury, and repeatedly touching her cheek, ear, nose, lips and scalp."

not mentioned is the fact that she also is cheneys NIECE
('i were her? 'don't think i'd take him up on that offer to 'go huntin'...)
