Tomorrow is looking like another day of shirtsleeve temps and moderate SW winds down in King George County, similar to mid-December.
John M., will you be teaching at Taylor? If so, gonna wear shorts to add some color to your knees?
Is anyone else interested in a few hours of fresh air, exercise, camaraderie, and multiple opportunities for launch & landing practice in a single afternoon?

A bit on the breezy side and a right cross most of the time. Had my students low on the hill initially but wind lightened a bit so they got to go up higher. Was 3rd class for one student who is doing fairly good and my other student (Steven) is working toward his H2. Both had fun with 10 and 8 flights and I did 6. Cragin and Dan were there also and did a number of flights. Gary Campbell came by to watch for a while and say hello. Hadn't seen him for quite a while and he hopes to get back into flying in the spring. Also I did a bit of mowing. Saw Mrs. Taylor on the way in and she thanked us for the Christmas fruit basket when she is enjoying. Overall a pretty good day though windier than expected but what wonderful temps for January!

Saturday, January 6, 2007 - Taylor Farm Training Hill
With the forecast for SW winds and temps in the low 70's, how could I not spend the first Saturday in January flying? After some morning chores, I arrived at 1:00 to see strong winds and a bit of west cross. Dan T. had ridden his BMW down, beating me there by 15 minutes. John M. had two students, and all three of them were setting up gliders at the bottom by the trees, due to the strong winds. With Dan's help, I set up the Pulse on the top. The winds were well above 10 mph, and increasing for a while. NWS reports later showed a peak of 17 mph at 2:00 p.m.
I finally launched during a nice lull after 2:00. Dan and I alternated on the Pulse, picking lighter cycles. Even then, we both found bumps of lift just off the hill, nearly getting above launch. I flew three times, and Dan flew twice.
In the meantime, John was working with his students, and after about 3:30 they were flying from up the hill as the winds were more reasonable. We also had the help of Gary Campbell, who dropped by to see how things were looking. Gary told us he hopes to return to flying in the spring after a three year hiatus. He is looking forward to freeing his WW Eagle from the garage. Gary's stories included tales of Attack Ducks and XCs and flying years ago with Tad and Nelson and others.
Dan and I departed about 4:30, with John and hi students still enjoying the flying.
Fine day to be alive!

I would have been there. Grandma and Grandpa got stuck in the garage. The spring broke and they couldn't get out. That is their cars. Had to drive to Mechanicsville, MD to get their cars out.
Was great to read the post, keeps me geared up. They know I was heading out to Taylors' too. Anyways, sucks getting old when you can't lift the garage door, had to have help from my daughter.
