Yeah, but where? If it's TOO light, might go triking... - Hugh

Kelvin and Marc F were set up when I arrived at 1115. Dave P and Tom McG arrived shortly after and we wired the first two off in a steady, straight-in 15. We ran a shuttle to the LZ (Carlos arrived) then launched Dave and Tom. Carlos and I finished setting up, Marc, Dave and Kelvin landed and came back up to launch Carlos and me at 2:15/2:20 (it had backed off to 10 and a high cirrus layer suppressed the thermals - but not completely!). We worked a bit to stay up (I got to 550 over in one big gentle thermal - Tom said he got to 1000 over) and went out to land after about 40 minutes. After everyone else left and we were all packed up, Carlos shared his gift bottle of Chimay with me. Where was everybody? - Hugh

Went to Smithsburg

Post by Matthew »

Didn't get to bed till 3am. Got moving too late in am to think about going to the Pulpit. So we went to Smithsburg to play with the PGs. Dan T. had also called asking if he could kite my wing some there. Richard was there with HG students. Stephane and Jim K. were there with a PG student. Steve K also flew his PG. I did four flights-- 3 reverse and one forward. Karen had three flights. Steve was looking quite good. Another PG pilot there as well, forgot his name... and a few RC guys.

It had been blowin' straight in before we arrived at 12:30. Crossed from the SW most of the time we were there.

Winds went dead at about 3.
