Taylor Farm 12/9 & 10 ??

Post by CraginS »

I'm seeing sunny, SW, and reasonable temps and wind speeds on both Saturday and Sunday coming up. I'm tied up all day Saturday, but couild easily be convinced to join a crowd at Taylor on Sunday.
I bet John M would love to have his students see a bunch of mountain pilots out there brushing up our skills.
Who else is up for it?

Not going today (Saturday) but might go tomorrow for some exercise even if I don't have any students. Forecast looks pretty nice. Let me know if you can join me.

I'm seeing 49 degrees, clear sky, sunny, SSW at 4. I'm all for it. Let's meet at Taylor around lunchtime Sunday.

lost washout tube

Post by talafous_joe »

What a great day at Taylor Farm yesterday.

If anybody that went to Taylor Farm yesterday finds a washout tube for a Falcon 195, please let me know.

Wanted to be there. But I did some bonding with my 13 year old boy. Took him to the Raquetball court for a lesson. He couldn't fathom an old man making him run. Then off to the driving range. Must have hit 400 balls, all over the place. Then some catch with the baseball. He went to bed early :D I could've dragged him to Taylors, but he would've been bored. I really like it there, close to me 45min. Glad to hear it was a good day.

Taylor 12/10 Report

Post by CraginS »

A fine forecast of light (4 mph) SSW winds with bright clear sky and 50 degree temperature tempted a dozen pilots to the Taylor training hill. John M had four students, including recently arrived H2 Joe T, Mark, David, and Sufau (I apologize for mangling that name). Marc F was in instructor mode, too, with eager student Steve K bagging his way down the hill, and Ellis K. doing a few turns under the floppy wing, also. Janni P. did a bit of brush up work on his Eagle. PK had brow beaten and arm-twisted Joe G. into coming out, for a bit of foot launch practice that broke a long dry spell for both.

I got in five sweet flights in the shirtsleeve conditions, proud of myself for hiking my Pulse back up the hill so many times, wearing my knee-hanger harness. Joe got a similar 5 in on Janet's Falcon. However, PK definitely earns Pilot of the Day for foot launching for the first time in 4 years, and further, for hiking that weighty T2 back up the hill 5 times, while wearing a full pod with 'chute. I'm thinking his carry weight was about 40# more than mine. Go PK!

Damn, this is a fun sport!

I just knew Kinsley has always hankered for brush-up tips from Fink. :D
