Sigh of Relief

Post by Flying Lobster »

Well, the time of accountability has finally come for the neo-con Bushies, as the country has overwhelmingly demanded a change in republican-led policies. Even members of the right are beginning to pull their heads out of the sand.

I can hear Bob Marley singing in the background..."Gonna chase those crazy bald heads outta de land." :P

well...
shrub, having stated that he will not be swayed by this election,
whatever the results,
i.e. whatever the voice of the people
(and that IS one place where i believe him!)...

our (his?) only hope,
is that he takes this... as a sign from 'god'

i Still think our best bet is to get james earl jones hidden in a closet of his bedroom:
"georgie...Hey Georgie! this is GOD talking - it's time to listen up !"

Believe me--the rest of the rats know when the ship is sinking and when to abandon ship. He's done for.

I'm looking forward to hearing EXACTLY what "changes" the Dems have in mind. Now that they have the majority, they won't have any excuses about being a minority any longer. Let the debates begin !!!

debates? DEBATES ?!!

you mean 'de baiting' ? don't you?

you mean the villification?

the insinnuendo?

the 'swift boating?

the winning at all cost, since politics IS war , after all ?

see here's the thing i find interesting...all this CRAp that karl and the boys dish out...? it's about winning.
it's about duping people and giving them something to hold to so they can justify, to themselves, believing the stuff they already believe - or are too lazy to believe otherwise.

it's meant as junk food, useful only in so much as one can find someone else stupid or lazy enough to swallow it !
HELL! limbaugh just admitted that HE was gagging on it and was glad he no longer had to 'carry the water' !

now listen closely here, that's it - get up real close to the screen...

YOU'RE NOT ACTUALLY SUPPOSED TO BELIEVE THE STUFF YOURSELF !!!!!!!

if you pass the stuff off as things you believe your own self,
as 'ideas' that are intellectually sound or of any significance...

listen closely again...

YOU END UP LOOKING LIKE A STOOGE !!!!

but, you know, if that's the way you like things -

Gary, I think you just put your finger on it: the Bushites have been drinking their own Koolade.

Marco, now that the election is over we are having a much more honest discussion of alternative policies. People are actually acknowledging that there's been a civil war going in Iraq for some time and that some kind of redeployment of troops is necessary. But the truth is that we only have a choice among bad alternatives - any good ones have long since been foreclosed by the gross administration errors that have been amply documented.

But there's something wrong about one party being irresponsible and screwing everything up and then relying on the other party to be responsible and fix it. This will be the second time the so-called "tax and spend" Democrats will have to rebalance the budget after the actual "borrow and spend" Republicans ran up the national credit card balance. Yeah, the Democrats will now take a lead in discussing Iraq alternatives, but if, as is now likely, the U.S. is defeated in Iraq, it will be because the Republicans bungled it back in 2003-04.

The Democrats have been set up by the Republicans as a bogeyman that will force a precipitate withdrawal despite the cost, when in fact several prominent ones, such as Kerry, took political heat for shying away from such a simplistic answer. Kerry recognized that cutting off funds is a terrible way to force a military course of action (we can talk about whether it was justified in the Vietnam case after so many years of futility and a much higher body count).

I think there is a measure of justice in the fact that Bush will have to bleed for another 2 years over Iraq - too bad it means more brave young Americans will bleed and die for his on-the-job training.

On a personal note, my son, a Marine Corps reservist, has been notified that he is being called up. I feel like he has dodged a bullet because he's being sent to Djibouti (Horn of Africa) rather than Iraq... - Hugh
