It looks like we might have a good weekend for Hyner: light winds, cumulus studded skies.
"But wait", you say: "don't I see a NE forecast? I thought Hyner was a NW site."
Ah, but it's a thermal site. If the winds are light, you just wait until that thermal comes burbling through, and you're off. Never fails in light winds with cumulus. Not sure exactly when I'm heading up, but I'll be there.

From Shawn MacDuff:
The Labor Day Fly-In is coming up this weekend and just wanted to let everyone know what's going on. Hopefully the hurricane will stay easterly and keep us dry. I've been getting e-mails from many pilots hoping to stop by Hyner. John Hope is looking to make his 2006 appearance and Glenn Rohrbach is looking to make is millennium apperance. If you haven't been to Hyner lately, this would be good time to stop since the Ox Roast is always a crap shoot.
Saturday at 8:00PM will be our club meeting and elections will be held. If you want to run for office, come on by and let us know. If you want to complain or raise any issues, be there.
The Eagle's Nest Tavern is planning a big weekend. They will be having their breakfast buffet on Saturday and Sunday. On Friday night, they are having a DJ. They are having their BBQ buffet Saturday followed by a live band which was a big hit last weekend. Sunday is their "Fest at the Nest". Around 5-6 bands will be playing all day Sunday to help raise money for the Renovo Youth Organization. All the bands agreed to play for free and the proceeds will go to the RYO. Cover charge is $5. Not sure if there is gonna be a female lead singer like last time but I'm sure Brian Vant-Hull will stop by anyway.
In terms of membership, we have 96 members. If we have a good turnout I'm sure we can surpass 100 for the 2nd year in a row.
See ya at Hyner

Oh, somehow I missed Mike's post.
Response: I think most of the rain will finish on saturday, so at least come up for saturday evening, though I think flying may be a possibility at Hyner East or Jack's, depending on the rain and wind direction.
Sunday, light and over the back, but if we get thermals you can still launch. Sled rides are worth it at Hyner. And a single cloud dive can be worth the entire drive if you time it right.
And if not much flying, the hang out time always makes it good. I've never not had a good time there, just ask Shawn Ray. Come on up!
