Jack's launch and LZ conditions

Post by brianvh »

Thought I'd post this in case anyone heads for Jacks:

Hey Brian, We might be there Friday...Anyways, Jack's is launchabowl.
There are sapplings on the left that should be cut next. They sure grew
quickly this year! The LZ will be growing back since it was cut last
week. My advice is to ask if you plant a flag. If you are circling from
above look for the scruffiest field. When you land be curtious and walk
the glider off on the seam between the new an older alfalfa strips...
The corn is super high this year but we are lucky to have two strips of
alfalfa side by side for the crosswind scenarios...

Thanks for the update, Brian. I assume the old Jack’s LZ rules still apply:

(From Shawn MacDuff)
1) We will break down on the dirt road or on the grass just off the mainroad. Not in the fields. 2) We will never drive on the dirt road. We will carry our gliders and equipment to our vehicles parked along the main road.

In addition, conceal any alcoholic beverages and cleanup any litter even if it isn't yours.

Whoops, didn't remember anything about not driving on the dirt road, thought that was just don't drive or break down on the alfalfa, and don't park on the dirt road. I'll ask for clarification next time I'm up there.

I think it was "don't mess up the alfalfa" till people started messing up the alfalfa.
Now it's "don't drive in the feilds at all".
As I recall, the owner was rather irritated.
