Very few pilots have a pass to fly Skyline Drive.

Dickey Ridge for me

Post by garys »

Daniels should be good but I'm heading to Dickey Ridge. It is a lot closer (for me anyway) and I could use the exersize. More folks should apply for the pass. The "drive" is a great place to fly. I love to fly along and keep my glider shadow right in front of a slow moving car or motorcycle that is out just cruising and watch them swerve all over the road trying to figure out what is causing the pterodactyl like shadow in front of them. I have done this a couple of times then had second thoughts. It might not be the coolest thing when that car went over the side but it sure would look cool on a video.

Traffic - not good!

Post by Marcel Dettling »

I'm a little bit concerned that the traffic situation at Dickeys will cause us problems one day. The backups created by people who drive very slowly (or even stop) to watch us fly could be annoying for the rangers. Not to mention if an accident happens because a driver gets distracted by a glider.

Thus, I prefer to fly so high that the people don't take notice of me. But of course not only because of that

Cheers,

Marcel
