I'm in San Diego for a couple of days on a business trip, so I brought my glider in the change I might be able to get in a flight or two at Torrey Pines where I got P-2 certified last August. The winds were a little flakey, varying from 4 - 7 mph. You need a sustained 5-6+ in order to get the constant ridge lift for flying. I got up for 20 minutes, and then lost my last opportunity for a top land before having to glide down to the beach 300' below. Temps were in the 60's, so it was nice to not have to bundle up!
But the best part of the flight was that I got to try out the new Vario (Flytec 5020 w/GPS) that I got for Christmas! I love toys! I can't wait to get home so I can download to my computer and continue to figure out all the neat things that it does beyond singing when I go up and down.
