Forecasts don't look very promising for tomorrow.
Anyone seeing anything encouraging at all? Might be
worth a try at Woodstock if it goes west by the end o
the day; hmmm....

I see conflicting forecasts in direction. NWS text forecasts W. ADDs shows strong WSW winds at altitude.

I will probably go PG kiting and Zagi flying at Smithsburg.

Regarding conditions at Smithsburg - the hill it is not too muddy, but the parking area is very mucked up.

... from the last time we had a gang out there. We had way too many cars parked there. Folks should read the rules - written on the sign - 3 cars. We had about eight and they were getting stuck and sliding around. That is not good.

NWS 'cast is now W@10-20 for Woodstock.... All I see is SW, all
the way to western Ohio, but I suppose if that High to our south
moves a bit... Hmmm.

Anyone know if the road is open?

Satellite already shows wave, and ADDS forecast for 3000' is
seriously cranking... Even if the road's open I'm worried about
a blow out.

What are others thinking?

Anything that shows wind contours is looking a tad to the south of west,
but single location thingies are saying due west. I think I'd trust the
overall pattern...but what &$?! is the NWS plot doing? Damn
meteorologists...

Need to send Hank out on a scouting trip to the fire tower before I drive
2.5 hours to risk a nasty cross.

Joe Schad just called to tell me that both the
Woodstock road and Skyline Drive are closed.

I don't think that the day's promising enough
to do a hike up the back at WS, at least for me!

I'm still giving Daniel's some thought... anyone
interested in carpooling?
