2006 Membership Drive

Post by hang_pilot »

With apologies for interrupting regularly scheduled programming, here's the pitch.

Please support free-flight in the mid-Atlantic by renewing or joining CHGPA today: http://www.chgpa.net/renew.

Renaissance Ralph Sickinger has created an on-line form which you can complete and submit electronically with paypal or print and mail with a personal check. The address is http://www.chgpa.net/renew We offer the following membership options: CHGPA Flying Member ($40), MHGA Flying Member ($40), Joint CHGPA/MHGA Flying Member ($55), Non-flying Member ($25), and Pulpit Sticker ($15).

Flying memberships grant privileges to launch at Bill?s Hill, Fisher Road and the Pulpit. CHGPA reimburses the Pulpit treasury on behalf of the entire club a fixed amount per person to cover operating expenses for those three sites. A club membership is not required to fly Bill?s, Fisher and Pulpit, only at a minimum a Pulpit sticker. The Pulpit sticker only option, however, exists for visiting pilots. If you consider those sites ?local?, please support your local club with a full flying membership.

What does your club do? Take a look at our core mission areas and some (by no means all) of the activities we will undertake in 2006 to meet them:

To preserve existing and open new flying sites:
*Send landowner gifts (with MHGA) for Daniel?s, Pulpit (both LZ?s), High Rock, Fisher, Bill?s, Smithsburg, Woodstock, Taylor?s, Kirchner?s;
*Pay site insurance premiums (with MHGA) for Pulpit, High Rock, Bill?s, Fisher and Oregon Ridge;
*Organize work parties for Bill?s (June), Fisher (July), Pulpit (August). Other sites as needed;
*Present a proposal to Washington County to open a paragliding launch at High Rock;

To promote the sports of hang gliding and paragliding:
*We are a registered exhibitor for Girl Scout Day at the Air and Space Museum?s Udvar Hazy Center in March. Attendance for the Center on that day last year exceeded 10,000 people;
*We will continue our long-standing presence at the Smithsonian Kite Festival on the National Mall in D.C.;

To promote pilot safety:
*Annual parachute repack;

To promote pilot camaraderie:
*Publish quarterly the award-winning Skyline;
*Maintain the CHGPA forum which now has 175 members;
*With MHGA hold the 14th Annual McConnellsburg Hang Gliding and Paragliding Festival and the 31st Annual High Rock Fly-in.

I think that?s an impressive list for a small organization! I hope you?ll see the value in joining. You get a lot for your money!

Please support us, renew now: http://www.chgpa.net/renew

Best regards,
Daniel

The actual event is Women in Aviation Day:

I'm very excited that we will be participating! Thanks to Charlie Givens for the idea. Let me know if you're interested in volunteering, especially if you're a FIFI.

Can I join using the on-line "renew" form or is there a specific joining form?

Thanks,
