My phone rang. It was Gene Towns asking, "can you guess where I am right now?" I guessed ... 'Florida'. "No", he says "I'm standing near the start line of the Iditarod and the race starts in about an hour.

Cool stuff, this technology: cell phones and jet airplanes and internet. Mushers don't need it.
