Webshots slow?

Post by Scott »

Just a thought/question while I'm finishing up the Skyline...I've noticed over the past several months that the photo-sharing website (popular amongst club members) Webshots is consistently very slow-loading (annoyingly so). I have a broadband cable modem connection from Adelphia that seems fine for most other sites I go to. Has anybody else noticed this? Just curious...

As an aside, there are many other photo sites out there, and I've had consistently good experiences using Flickr - http://www.flickr.com (Not to bash Webshots or promote Flickr---just suggesting alternatives.)

Webshots slow?

Think you've got problems, Scott?? My firewall at work has recently begun to treat Webshots as "Adult Entertainment" and blocks all access to it!? Dang!

Sorry that Webshots is too slow for you Scott. I pay a subscription to have virtually unlimited photos there. I just renewed my annual subscription for the third year in a row. Nearly each time I fly, I take time to snap photos (some of local pilots) and to provide them at full resolution for anyone to use (i.e. in newsletters, etc).

To move from Webshots, I would need to upload 2704 three-megapixel photos in about 70 albums. That would be slow for me :)

FYI - the stats for my albums are currently 99,357 views and 835 downloads. The average is between 1500 to 2000 views per week. The minimum ever was 1200.

Maybe I'll move off of Webshots someday, or just quit posting photos :)

Send us a link to your photos, dude ...

Webshots slow?

I have not had any problems viewing Sparky's photos quickly... FYI . I
have a cable modem and live in Annapolis. Not sure if this will help you
figure it all out. Good luck (and thanks Sparky for all the great shots).
