Aerobatic Sunday

Post by Matthew »

I had a nice flight at a flight park near Warrenton, VA. Got up to 3K, did a few loops, a wingover, a roll, a barrel roll, a diving spiral towards the ground and a thing called a cuban eight that includes a couple of loops and a roll. What fun!

Not in my hang glider, of course. That's crazy talk!!! I took an aerobatic biplane ride at The Flying Circus. I did a blurb on them for VA Living Magazine and Karen bought me a ride as a birthday present. It was a total BLAST! What struck me most was how smooth the flight was. I thought I'd be jarred around like in a roller coaster. But the little biplane was smooth as glass in all of the maneuvers and in take-off and landing. Afterwards we hung around for the show. A lot of hokey stuff alledgely for kids (the kids there seemed bored by the staged antics)... but some absolutely amazing aerobatic flights and just plane incredible flying. Ya'll should check it out sometime next summer.

We're hoping to do biplane ride together this fall with Blue Ridge Biplanes. They're open through the Fall if anyone has a hankering for some old fashioned barnstorming.
