Flying Wed?

Since I have some days off I was wondering if anyone would like to fly
tomorrow (Wed)? Looks like it may be a bit light but winds 245 @ 7-10...
Woodstock? Is this too light... hoping for the Woodstock effect I guess.
Anyone interested?

I'm interested John. (I think this might be a record for greatest flyable Woodstock days in a row!) Looks more SW tomorrow, but it's worth waiting 'til tomorrow morning and seeing what's up.

10mph is fine for Woodstock...but 245 is too much cross. (Right experienced pilots?)

Anyone else?

I believe Dickies Ridge or Daniels Mountain will be a better option with SW wind.

Have not flown either site but would go if someone with experience went...
gotta dig out my site guide. Hopefully the wind might "straighten out" at
Woodstock with the afternoon sun and a bit of upslope flow... ? I need to
look at a few more wx sites to really see as this was a very preliminary
wind check I did. I'm game for some flying, and it's looking awesome out
there if we can get the wind.

Think about the Pulpit as well...works well in wsw. The only problem is that you should not go up on the ramp without wire crew if thermals are happening or winds are above around 6 mph. Dickey's ridge requires that you get a sticker in advance, Daniel's requires 4wd and good clearance.

Gee...maybe woodstock IS the best hope. If the wind approaches 10 mph don't get fooled if the streamers that have been crossing swirl straight in for brief periods. We've got lots of sad tales from those who have been fooled by the rotor in the woodstock slot.

I think WSW will work for the Fairgrounds. JR would know. The forecast I looked at (ADDS) shows prefrontal with increasing winds.

The Fairgrounds will take a WSW wind direction (it faces the same direction as the Pulpit, about 280 degrees), but requires a wire crew if there's any amount of wind. They're calling for SW 10 - 15 mph in Cumberland on Wednesday and that's probably too strong and too cross for launching safely at the Fairgrounds, especially without a full wire crew.

Well without an experienced CHGPA guy I don't think I'll go anywhere but
places I'm familiar with... Pulpit or Woodstock. I think it's gonna pick up
later in the day but will it swing around? Oh, I just checked again and now
it's looking more SW than WSW. Won't swing until sunset... hmm. I'm open
to ideas, my vacation has already seen plenty of beer and I was really
hoping to fly but beer knows no weather.

John and others---I'm willing to go anywhere that looks possible. Seems like Woodstock's out (too SW), and Pulpit may be iffy. I've never been to Daniels and would be interested in checking it out, even if I can't fly. (I can always bring slot clearing tools too.)

Daniels seems like a "high maintenance" site (e.g. clearances, landowner relations, fees, stickers, escorts, etc.) I don't say that sarcastically, but rather to point out that I don't even know if I can fly there! Is the info in the site guide current? (For example, it says you must have a CVHGA membership to fly there.)
