Hang glider dies in weekend accident

HYAK, WASH. ? A 29-year-old man from Japan was killed in a hang-gliding accident Sunday near Snoqualmie Pass, Kittitas County sheriff's deputies reported.

Saito Hiroshi clipped a tree during takeoff, causing him to crash into a heavily wooded area below Ramparts Ridge, near Lake Lillian, deputies said.

Despite resuscitation efforts by members of his group, Hiroshi was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said. His body was recovered by rescue personnel and turned over to the Kittitas County coroner.

Hiroshi worked on contract for Mitsubishi in the Everett area and was said to be an experienced hang glider, deputies reported. "

Yeah, I remember a couple of tall bare trees near the launch.
Wonder why they don't cut them down... Not like here, where you
would have to cut down a whole forest. - Hugh
